First Day Letter Home

With this letter I would like to introduce myself as your child's Sixth Grade Math teacher this year. I have been a teacher at Saint Michael for the last five years.

I would like to welcome you to Back to School Night. I am looking forward to meeting you and showing you our texts and the classroom. Please attend if you have an opportunity to do so.

This year will be an exciting one for my students and me. We'll study charts, graphing, basic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) on whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, and geometry. I have planned many activities that I hope will encourage by students to succeed.

Many parents ask about homework assignments for their children. While there may be other times when assignments and projects will take lots of time, there is a routine that I try to follow as closely as possible to insure that students benefit from their homework. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night you can expect to see your child doing homework for this class. I reserve Friday night for Accelerated Math Practice sheets, the Problem of the Month, or to serve as a reminder for supplies that are needed for Monday. I generally keep the assignments to about 15-minutes per night. It is important for the children to practice the concepts. The assignments will be written in their assignment book at the conclusion of each class and posted on my SchoolNotes web page. Type or go to then type our school zip code 07016 and select my web page from the list.

If you have any questions or if any problems arise, please contact me at school: 908-276-9425. You may also send me an email via the SchoolNotes web page. I will be glad to speak with you if you just give me a call, send me a note, or an email.

I look forward to working with your child this year. I also look forward to meeting you at Back to School Night.
